What Is IMP?
IMP is a content development and calendaring system that records all content and related assets created for AARP’s multimedia platforms: Print publications, AARP.org, AARP studios, and social media. It is also a production workflow management tool for non-print content that requires shared resources, such as art, photography, video, and web production. As such, it integrates metadata from K4 and Telescope to offer a “one-stop shop” for producers.
Who Uses It?
There are around 268 active users in IMP representing 20 different business units. On average, 30-50 users are in the system each day. These are:
- Editorial teams (English and Spanish-language AARP.org; ATM, Bulletin)
- Production managers (Photo, Audience Engagement, managing editors)
- Business units needing shared assets (Membership, PPI, E&O, etc.)
- Contract administrators
How Is It Used?
IMP is the system of record for approximately 41,900 AARP print-to-web and web original content, as well as work orders for online production needs from other business units. Most of these records are from 2012 to present day, with some evergreen content dating back to 2009. Users can track progress and generate reports on:
- Content by platform (ATM, Bulletin, AARP.org in English and Spanish), month/year, and subject
- Assignments by payment and editorial status by month, year, or business unit
- Content production workload by Producer, Photo Editor, Web Editor, QA Editor, etc.
- Content production status by subject, month/year
- Individual users can track their daily workloads and create end-of-year productivity reports
- Managers use IMP to demonstrate team productivity and to reallocate resources when team members go on vacation or leave the company.
