Copy Fit a Layout Containing Multiple Print Variants
- Click on the My Tasks tab in the top center panel of the Asset Query window. Print Variants assigned to you will be listed here.
OR use the Stored Searches for ATM and BUL Layouts to locate the Layout. (If using this method jump to Step #4 in the process.)
- Click on ONE of the Print Variants from the Layout to highlight it.
- Press Command and Back Arrow.
This will open a new Asset Query window and will show you all the assets that the variant is related to including the Layout.
Click on the Layout asset to highlight it.
Right click (or press control and click) on the layout and select -> Edit Placed Text to check out the variant assets in InCopy 2020
When the Print Variants check out, the censhare Asset Query panel will appear and you will see all Print Variants placed on the Layout in the Asset Query panel.
NOTE: If the InCopy Panel gets closed, return to the censhare Java Client, go to the menu bar and select
File -> Open InCopy Asset Query PanelIn InCopy, click on the Layout tab and edit all the Variants as needed.
* All variants will be accessible for editing in one Layout and Story document.
* As work is done on the variants you will see the variant highlighted in the asset query panel.

Checking in Print Variant Texts
Once the edits are complete, you will need to check the file back into the system.
- Select the any of the Print Variant Text Assets to check them all in.
• All variants will check in together, you cannot check one in at a time.
In the InCopy Asset Query Panel toolbar click on the Save and Close button (Disk with X).
When the Save and Close dialog appears, update any Print Variant Text metadata on the Text tab.
You can edit metadata for the variants all at once or you can select then individually in the upper left Assets panel.
Update workflow steps/assignments under the General tab.
