NOTE: As of September 1, 2021, Content Items for AARP Media Properties -- AARP the Magazine, AARP Bulletin, AARP.org, AARP.org en español, AARP Newsletters, and other publications -- are created AUTOMATICALLY by CPS. 


When a user creates a Story Asset in CPS, a corresponding Content Item is created in IMP. CPS sends the Asset ID to IMP and IMP returns the Content Item number to CPS:

For anyone NOT in CPS, there are TWO ways to create a content item in IMP­:


  1. From the CONTENT ITEMS menu:

    Select “Content Items” from the dropdown menu under the Content tab
    Click "Add"

  2. From the “Versions” view (Select “Versions” from the Content Tab):
  3. When the “Create” dialog box appears, fill out as much information as you can about the item. Fields with a red asterisk are required.



  4. If the content you are adding is an article for one of AARP’s print publications or being published on AARP.org or AARP.org en español, you must associate the content item to a PROJECT:
    Search for the desired project (Web month, Print Issue, etc.)
    Fill out the required fields. Different fields appear in this “Create” screen depending on the platform select. Live URL, K4 File Name, and Promo information can be added at this or a later time.
